The salt caravans marched all the way to Timbuktu from near Marrakech, and returned with gold , silver, cloth, spices and slaves. The travel was always dangerous and not many came back. Merzouga: Brief history

Originally the field next to Rissani meets “Errachidia” Merzouga is not a mountainous region or a marine region, it is a golden desert extension that shakes the minds of the spectator by the sandy dunes. This involves a high oasis of palm trees and swampy vegetation where there are birds such as flamingos, ducks, falconry,etc. The area belongs geologically to a desert mass block called “Erg Chebbi” which renders the place incomparable by many unique geographical and ethnographic features. During history and geography the desert region has grown in importance. It was historically seen as a point of touch for the absence of borders between the Mediterranean coastal region and Africa.
